Super Blood Blue Moon eclipse: What can we forgive?

Tomorrow is a the full moon eclipse which is an amazing time to make changes in your life and say goodbye to the things that no longer serve you so that you can leap into a better, more fulfilling life.  Reflect on what you have learned so far from your inner teen.  The full moon invites us to forgive and be thankful.  Do you feel ready to forgive someone who hurt you as a teen?  Are you feeling thankful for something your teen self has shared with you?

Guiding Young Goddesses: I encourage you to write the name of the people or circumstances you need to forgive or the things you need to forgive yourself for on slips of paper and burn them in a fire.I encourage you to write the name of the people or circumstances you need to forgive or the things you need to forgive yourself for on slips of paper and burn them in a fire.

The intentions of previous new moons can come to fruition during a full moon.  Alternatively, you may realize the things you wished for weren’t meant to be.  The full moon is a time of strong intuition, you may receive messages about why your wishes aren’t coming true or what you need to do on another moon cycle to make it happen!  Eclipses amplify and sometimes accelerate these messages as well as changes that may need to happen help you align with your higher self.

Guiding Young Goddesses: How to utilize the Super Blood Blue Moon eclipseThis month’s full moon is sometimes called the Ice Moon or the Old Moon.  As we talked about in relation to the goddess Brigid, energy is beginning to move toward the surface.  We are encouraged to love and celebrate ourselves and learn from our past mistakes.  But most of all this moon invites us to have fun and let the inner teenager out to play!

According to the book Moonology by Yasmin Boland, full moons can be used to process:

  • Negative emotions
  • Fears
  • Upsets and arguments
  • Disappointments
  • Dramas
  • Wrongdoings

Think about these things in relation to the work you have been doing with your inner teen.  Have you been going deep with her?  What negative emotions have been brought to the surface?  Continue to feel into the shitty stuff because only through processing it can you move past them.  The full moon assists us in moving past the negative emotions that do not serve our higher selves.  Did your inner teen hate her body?  Did she not understand why her parents could not relate to her?  Did she have a lot of resentment about limits that were put on her that were unfair?  Was she forced to take on too much responsibility for someone so young?  What negative emotions can you most fully relate to your teenage years? Shame, frustration, and inadequacy were the negative emotions that felt like they were all around me all the time as a teenager.

Have you been going deep with her? What negative emotions have been brought to the surface?
Facing and feeling into the pain of adolescence is the only way to heal it.

Fears can hold us back from so many of our goals in life.  How many of our fears can be traced back to when we were teenagers?  Teenagers are often criticized for being fearless and not understanding the consequences of their actions.  So they are bombarded with people telling them they should be afraid.  You should be afraid of driving because you might get killed.  You should be afraid of sex because you might get a sexually transmitted infection, you should be afraid of getting a poor grades because you might not get into college and then your life will be ruined!   Teenagers should be honored for their fearlessness.  At some point parents got the idea that good parenting was putting the fear into their child, they should be fearful in order to behave appropriately and have a good life.   What fears can you release at this full moon to lead a more fulfilling life?

Upsets and arguments can be released at the full moon.  Are there any arguments that you had with friends or parents that you never quite let go?  Maybe now would be a good time to put them aside, write them down and put them in a fire or otherwise visualize yourself letting them go.  At the same point, many teens say things to their parents in a heated argument that they later learn to regret.  Feel free to forgive yourself for those things as well.

My teenage self is a little disappointed with the way that I turned out.  She dreamed of being a high powered career woman and she was pretty shocked to learn that I chose to be a stay at home mom and barista who owns a mini-van!  I have to let go of the shame and disappointment that I didn’t turn out the way that she thought I should be.  I hope that in letting go of that disappointment, I can reclaim some of the drive, motivation, and creativity I had as a teenager.  In what ways is your teen self disappointed in the way you turned out?  Can you release those things in order to show up more fully for the life that you are meant to live?

01-30-31-18lunar-eclipseIt goes without saying that teenage life is full of drama.  Have you dug into any of the dramatic things that happened when you were a teen?  Are there things that were said or hurts that were experienced that have left scars on your heart?  Did a boyfriend or girlfriend betray you and leave a mark that colored all of your future relationships?  Did you do something to a friend that you still have pangs of regret about when you think of them?  This full moon can help you heal those things, especially if they are related to pride, because this full moon falls in the sign of Leo.

Other aspects of the Leo full moon eclipse to consider are issues relating to ego and self centeredness.  Forgive yourself or others for times when they have behaved with arrogance or vanity.  Remember that people who annoy and upset us are our teachers, only through forgiveness and gratitude can we alchemize the lessons we are meant to learn.

“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”The full moon eclipse has powerful medicine for us, whether we choose to accept it or not.  Things can be stripped away that we weren’t ready to let go. Yasmin Boland says, “Note that doors which slam closed in your life around the time of this eclipse are unlikely to open up again.”  Breathe and try to accept that whatever we are losing right now is actually correcting us to the course that our lives are supposed to be heading on, the work we were born to do.

Once you have done your forgiveness work, it’s time to party!!  This moon is playful and extravagant!  Dress up your inner teen and take her out dancing!  Play games with your kids!  Get crafty with your bad self!  It’s been 150 years since the last Super Blood Blue Moon eclipse, soak it in and have fun!!It’s been 150 years since the last Super Blood Blue Moon eclipse, soak it in and have fun!!
